It has been said that TWR could stand for "TeamWork Radio" since the broadcasts could not continue if it weren't for close teamwork. We were reminded of this by some staff from our regional office in Singapore who visited recently. Lest any of us think that our role is either unimportant or more important than anyone else's, Scripture reminds us that each of us has a part in God's work.
Broadcasting the
Gospel requires a team effort. Before the programs go out over KTWR, programs
need to be produced (and, in some cases translated). Some programs are
made on Guam, however, many programs need to be sent to Guam and prepared
for airing. When the programs are delivered through the airwaves and listeners
respond, the follow up team writes a personal letter. This requires many
different people with many different jobs. Can you
see how each link in the process is so critical? We praise God
for bringing a team together from all over the world in order to
send out His Word to those who need to hear. Many of the listeners in this
region live in areas where there is little Christian witness and traditional
missionary work is restricted.
"..And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?.."
(Romans 10:14).
Persecution in China
We have heard reports that persecution of Chinese house church leaders has heated up again. It was reported that over thirty Protestant house church leaders were arrested on August 23rd as they met in a believer's home.
House church members are likely to make up a large percent of our listener
audience in China (based on listener letter responses).
Korea needs to hear

In Communist North Korea, radio is one of the few potential means of
witness. Operation World describes the fortified border between
the Koreas as "one of the most impenetrable in the world." Estimates are
that evangelical believers make up only 0.36 % of the population, although
little is known about the underground church there. In contrast, the church
in South Korea has been "founded on sound indigenous principles, blessed
with revival, refined by suffering and (is) now becoming a significant
missionary-sending body."(Operation World). KTWR airs daily Korean
broadcasts. In July, the ladies program "Women of Hope" was added to the
Korean language block.
God's worldwide team in action
We recognize that we are working as a team not only with our other staff in TWR, but with you --our supporters. We couldn't do what we do without your help! And, together we are part of a bigger team of Christians scattered around the world. To illustrate this, a missionary couple (working with New Tribes Missions in Indonesia) wrote the following encouraging letter:
"..Last week I was staying with a family of one of the church leaders. I was amazed to see how much the whole household benefited from the KTWR programs. Whenever possible they have the radio on at the proper time and many times are sitting down with Bibles and notebooks, writing down the Scripture references and looking up passages in their Bibles. The broadcasts were an important part of their day. Just to let you know that your labor is not in vain!"
One man sows, another reaps... We have even heard reports of the KTWR broadcasts sowing seeds so that when missionaries arrive they find hearts ready to receive the Gospel. In other cases, people are won to the Lord through the broadcasts and other missionaries or local Christians help disciple those believers. Only God could arrange such a unique team that works together to accomplish His will!
Thank you for praying for us. Many of you have shared personal prayer concerns with us lately. We appreciate this opportunity to pray for you, lifting your needs to the Lord who cares for us! Please continue to update us on your needs so that we can stay connected in spirit with you.
Here is an update on what we are praising God for and praying for in our lives:
2. Pray for South Korean Christians who have prayed and prepared for years for when the time North Korea opens for the Gospel. Pray that this may happen soon.
